Arrival/Departure Information

Access will begin at 7pm, Monday, July 8th. A snack will be provided Monday night, but not a complete dinner. We will need to know your travel plans before you arrive. If you will be dropped off and picked up by someone such as your parents, we will need to know when. Directions to YWAM Madison's Training Center. Access ends July 25.

Those of you coming to Madison by air, we will need your flight information (airline, flight number, and arrival times) to know when and where to pick you up and drop you off. Flights leaving Madison need to be booked for July 25.

Outreach Information

Visas & Passports

For your outreach to St. Lucia, you will need a valid passport. Those without a United States passport may be required to obtain a tourist’s visa. If you have not already applied for a passport (or visa, if necessary) you should do this immediately. It usually takes 6-8 weeks for passports to be processed and returned to you. Go to http://travel.state.gov/passport/ for passport application information.

Insurance

Insurance is required for all Access team members. If your present insurance does not cover you while out of the country, or does not include “emergency evacuation,” please contact us by June 1 to be part of a group insurance plan (approx. $1/day). Details at www.missionaryhealth.net. If you are using your own insurance, it is imperative that you send us a photocopy of the front and back of your insurance card.

Flights

We will provide you with our flight information to St. Lucia as soon as we have it. There are a couple of travel agents working on finding us the best price. The money for the plane tickets will be needed at time of purchase. I will let you know when we are ready to book the tickets. We’ll plan on flying out to St. Lucia on July 15 and returning on July 24.

Dress Code & Packing List

Because we’re in a different culture, we’ll have to dress differently than we’re used to at home. There are specific dress requirements for St. Lucian culture, as well as items to bring for our time in St. Lucia. Please follow the packing list and dress code. Remember to keep your luggage within the weight limit (50 lbs) and light enough for you to carry. The airline charges extra for overweight luggage.

Tuition & Spending Money

You will need to have the ground fees of $925 with you upon arrival. You can also send the money to our accountant (Access, YWAM Madison, PO Box 8503, Madison, WI 53708 - Checks payable to YWAM) You may want to bring along some spending money for fun, especially if you want to purchase anything in St. Lucia. You will have to purchase two meals in the airport. Payment for the flights are arranged separately, and instructions will be sent to you. We will sponsor a fun, team event while we’re in St. Lucia (like going to the beach, snorkeling, or out to dinner), but other “extras” you want to purchase will be your responsibility.

Fundraising

We've included a fundraising letter that you can use to send out to family and friends. If you would like to participate in local fundraising events (such as car washes, bake sales, etc) and need to find others to join you, please email us at access@ywammadison.org. Also, if you have ideas for fundraisers for our group, please pass them on to me as we are still looking for more fundraising options. Please note that donations to your trip should be given directly to you, NOT to YWAM, and are not tax deductible.
